The LCD monitor display becomes dim during focusing. Why? |

This article is intended for oral disclosure only.

The displayed image on the monitor is dissaturated to minimize appearance of noise. It is only a display matter and still images are recorded with normal saturation.

In movie clips however, the color saturation of the recorded data is as low as in the displayed image.

Under low light, frame rate, which is normally 15 fps, is slightly slowed down to assure enough exposure for each frame in the movie, so each single frame seems to advance step by step in the live view.

Under low light, the live view on the LCD monitor display appears dimly during focusing.

In order to maintain the frame rate constantly while keeping focusing speed, the brightness of live-view on LCD monitor is sacrificed.

This is only a display matter and the recorded image are correctly exposed.
